Pages Proof

We always send a FREE proof of your pages. This allows you to review your pages and ensures your book is the way you want it. Pages should not need corrections at the proof stage. If changes are necessary, submit press-ready corrected pages. If you previously submitted press-ready digital files, submit a new file for those pages, as well as a matching hard copy. Changes on press-ready pages will incur extra charges. Review and return your signed proof as soon as possible. Production cannot begin until we receive ALL proofs (even those you do not approve), sign-off letters, and the second payment.

If your proof has more than 20 pages of corrections, we will create a new proof for production purposes. This incurs an extra charge. You will receive this proof for approval, unless you waive that right in writing. If your proof has more than 40 pages of corrections, you must resubmit your entire book for which there will be extra charges. You will receive another proof for approval before we begin production. To avoid correction fees, additional proof charges, and delayed production, carefully proofread all pages before sending your order.

Cover Proof

A FREE cover proof will be created for your approval. Proofs for covers utilizing only one color will be black and white. Proofs for covers utilizing two or more colors will be output as color proofs. Minor edits in type or color may be made to the first proof. Design, illustration, or color changes are subject to extra design time which is charged at $40/hour. Changes may also require an additional proof, which incurs an extra proof charge. Production will continue after the proof has been approved.

If you provide us a press-ready cover, you must send a printout of your final cover that matches your digital file. This printout will be used to verify content only, not color. Home office color printers and monitors are not reliable for color accuracy since they are not calibrated to our printing equipment. The only reliable way to produce accurate color is to use the Pantone® Matching System Guide, which is the standard in the printing industry.
